Cheval sits further from the coast than anywhere else we service — about thirteen miles inland — and it has more cypress wetland around it than any of its neighbours, close to two square miles within a couple of miles.
So the salt-air corrosion story that applies in Oldsmar or Tarpon Springs does not apply here at all, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What does apply is what comes down out of the trees.
We service the Cheval area, including Heritage Harbor, Calusa Trace and Biarritz Village, all within about half a mile of a route we already drive.
What weekly pool service in Cheval covers
You get a text before we arrive, the same technician on the same day each week, and an emailed report with chemical readings and photos after each visit.
What two square miles of cypress means for a pool
Cypress drops needles, not leaves, and the difference is not cosmetic. Needles are fine enough to pass a skimmer basket that would stop an oak leaf, so they end up in the filter instead of the net. They also come down through autumn and into winter rather than in a single flush, which makes it a season-long job rather than a weekend one.
Needles stain as well as clog. Tannin leaches a tea colour into the water and settles into any surface that has lost its polish. It is far easier to keep on top of weekly than to correct once it has sat.
The lakes bring waterfowl and midges. Turkey Ford, Lake Thomas, Pearl, Crenshaw, Allen and Starvation are all here. Droppings are a phosphate and bacterial load with genuine chlorine demand behind them, and midge hatches come off the water in numbers. True for homes on the water; not true a few streets away.
Hillsborough water is hard, harder than the Pasco supply north of here, so calcium at the waterline is the recurring job rather than an occasional one.
Not every pool here is caged, and that is fine. Debris load decides the work, and a cage is one of the two things that set it — the trees above are the other. We would rather look at both than assume from one.
What that means for your pool
More cypress than anywhere near it
Close to two square miles of wetland within a couple of miles. Needles pass a skimmer that would stop a leaf, so they reach the filter, and they fall through autumn into winter rather than all at once.
Thirteen miles from the coast
Far enough inland that salt-air corrosion is not a factor here, whatever a page written for a coastal town might say. We would rather tell you a thing does not apply than borrow someone else’s story.
Six lakes, and tannin with them
Turkey Ford, Thomas, Pearl, Crenshaw, Allen and Starvation. Needle tannin leaches a tea colour that settles into any surface which has lost its polish — much easier to prevent weekly than to correct.
“ We would rather tell you a thing does not apply than borrow someone else’s story. ”
We check the equipment on every visit and put what we find in your report, with photos. Minor issues, a worn O-ring or a cracked skimmer basket, we fix on the spot rather than making a job of it. There is no call-out and no estimate to approve. Anything bigger, we coordinate with a licensed repair partner, and nothing is done without your say-so.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ) about pool service
What's included in weekly pool cleaning service?
Everything needed to keep the pool swim-ready, and you'll know it happened without having to check. Each visit covers skimming and netting, brushing the walls and tile, testing and balancing the water, emptying the baskets, and checking that the pump and equipment are running as they should. All chemicals are included. You get a text before we arrive, a text when the service is finished, and an emailed report with chemical readings and photos showing what we added and how your pool looked when we left. Vacuuming is included on our full service plan; on the chemical-and-clean plan it is done as needed rather than every week, and we'll tell you honestly which your pool needs.
How much does weekly pool service cost in the Tampa Bay area?
For a screened pool of typical size, roughly 10,000 to 13,000 gallons, $135 to $165 a month, and most are around $140. Where you fall in that range depends on the size of the pool and whether it needs a weekly vacuum. Unscreened pools generally cost a little more because open pools tend to be larger, take far more debris, and need weekly vacuuming, more time on site, and more chemicals to hold the same water quality. That price includes all chemicals and your monthly filter clean. We will give you a firm number for your pool before you commit to anything.
Do you require a contract?
No. Weekly pool service is recurring, but there is no long-term contract to sign. We want you to stay because the pool is being handled well, not because paperwork makes it hard to leave.
Do you provide all the chemicals, or are they charged separately?
Included. Chlorine, acid, stabilizer, salt, algaecide, and whatever the water needs that week are part of your monthly rate, with no separate chemical bill and no surprise line items. It is worth asking any company you are considering because chemicals billed separately can make a quote that first looked lower cost substantially more in summer.
Does the rate include filter cleanings?
Yes, about once a month as part of your regular service, at no extra cost. A dirty filter is one of the most common reasons a pool stops holding clear water, and one of the most commonly skipped jobs. Yours gets done on schedule and appears in your service report so you can see when it was last done.
How will we know when the pool tech has finished?
You will not have to wonder, and you do not need to be home. You get a text message when the service is complete, followed by an emailed report with chemical readings and photos, plus anything we added or adjusted and anything we spotted that needs attention. If something is starting to go wrong, it is in the report rather than saved up for a phone call.
Can we set up recurring credit card payments?
Yes. We invoice at the start of each month and charge the card on file, so there is nothing for you to remember and no chasing. The invoice comes by email each month, so you can always see what you are paying for.
How soon can new service start?
Usually within a week. Our route already runs within about half a mile of Heritage Harbor and Calusa Trace.
The water keeps going a tea colour. What causes that?
Tannin, leaching out of cypress needles and leaf litter. It is cosmetic rather than unsafe, but it settles into a worn surface if it sits, so it is worth staying ahead of rather than catching up with.
Is salt air a problem for my equipment here?
No. Cheval is around thirteen miles inland, far enough that salt aerosol is not a factor. It genuinely matters in the coastal towns; it does not here.
Do I need to be home?
No, only the gate needs to be accessible. You get a text before we arrive and photos afterwards.
Will it be the same person each week?
Yes, barring holidays and illness. Many of our technicians have looked after the same pools for years.
What if my pool is green?
That is a recovery before weekly service starts. We quote it plainly and say how long it will take.
Do you do repairs?
Not the repair work itself. We check the equipment weekly and tell you what we find, with photos. Minor issues we fix on the spot rather than making a job of it, so a worn O-ring gets dealt with that day instead of becoming a failed pump. For anything larger we coordinate with a licensed repair partner, who talks you through the options and the cost, and no repair happens without your consent.
